Diabetes is a serious disease that cannot be treated its own. Doctor helps to make a diabetes treatment plan that is right for the individual. Since the stunning discovery in Toronto in 1922 that type 1 diabetes arises from a deficiency of insulin, a novel hormone produced in the pancreas, the management of diabetes has been firmly grounded in scientific advances that continue to shape our understanding of the pathophysiology and guide our choices in selecting optimal therapies for type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is a relatively new technology which has the potential to assist people living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and treated with insulin to achieve the goal of optimum control of blood glucose.
